Black Women Commission Demand Richmond Heights City Officials to Recognize 1st Black Mayor

Richmond Heights, OH. - Members of the Black Women Commission of Cuyahoga County call on Richmond Heights Public Officials to recognize the First Black Woman Mayor, Meisha Headen.

Headen was elected Mayor of Richmond Heights in 2014. She served 11 months before she was recalled. City Officials were determined to keep Headen off the "WALL" where all Mayors are posted.

After this issue came to the attention of The Black Women Commission of Cuyahoga County, the women contacted the current Mayor and Council members of the City, demanding that Headen be added to the "Wall." The City responded after the BWCCC informed the media and held a press conference in front of Richmond Heights City Hall. "As we celebrate Black History Month and Women's History Month, we will not stand silent and allow the City of Richmond Heights to erase our history," says the Women of BWCCC.
