December 2019. The Black Women Commission of Cuyahoga County brought light to the Justice for Jalen Wise case. After 2.5 years, a man who lives in the same town as the Wise family is being charged with involuntary manslaughter and six counts of child endangerment. Wise was taken to Tinker's Creek to swim in June 2017 by a man that the family did not know. The man being charged also took his sons and other neighborhood youth. According to the Wise family, Jalen did not have permission to go to the park. It is also stated that the Wise family does not know the man. "I would not know this man from a can of paint. Furthermore, everyone knows that Jalen does not swim. Jalen can't swim. Jalen does not like water" stated, Tiffany Wise, Jalen's mother. Ms. Wise says that she never gave Jalen permission to go anywhere with this man or group of boys. The case was originally dismissed by the Cleveland Metro Parks Chief Prosecutor, Anne Eisenhower
In early July of 2019, the BWCCC worked on behalf of the Wise family to shed light on this 2.5 year old case. Members of the Black Women Commission approached the Board of Commissioners of the Cleveland MetroParks and their Chief of Police, Karen Dolan to revisit the incident that occurred at the park in June/July 2017. Months, later the case was referred to the Cuyahoga County Prosecutor Office for further investigation. After gathering additional data, the county prosecutors referred the case to the grand jury. The grand jury came back with an indictment.
"We are finally getting some justice for my brother. I am tired of seeing my mother hurting" stated

Jalen's sister, Alana. "Many people told us that this could not be done. Our organization, we will work tirelessly for issues and circumstances that impact our families. This was a very unfortunate matter, and we want to help the family get justice. We pray that this start will be a healing tool for the entire Wise family. This is an unbelievable and incredible moment for the family and our organization" says, Kimberly F. Brown. Brown is the President of the Black Women Commission.
The 43 year old man will be arraigned on Thursday, December 19, 2019 at 8:30am at the Justice Center in Cuyahoga County.
