Maple Hts., Ohio. Members of the black Women Commission of Cuyahoga County aided a family in Maple Hts following an illegal eviction. The family rented a home in deplorable conditions. The owner did not have an occupancy permit fro the City of Maple. The landlord had no authorization to rent the home or accept any rent payment. "The home is terrible. There is black mold, cracked ceilings and a faulty roof. My personal property was destroyed" stated, the tenant. The tenant also filed a complaint with the city inspector who cited that home.

The family found themselves in court after the landlord served them an eviction. The landlord is attempting to sue the family for non-payment of rent. Both parties had a hearing with Garfield court. The tenant was ordered to move immediately. A following hearing is scheduled for June 19, 2019.

The BWCCC will be on hand to help the family with living arrangements, and filing a motion to dismiss the claim of what is old. According to the ORC section 5321.04, a landlord shall maintain a home in good and safe working order and condition. The former tenant can prove otherwise. The ladies of BWCCC will work with this family to file necessary paperwork to right a wrong.
