Tune into WOVU 95.9FM Thursdays at 11am for All Talk, No Gossip with the ladies of The Black Women Commission of Cuyahoga County. On June 20, 2019, BWCCC discussed issues regarding Armond Budish and Bill Mason - the new chief of staff for Cuyahoga County, Paige Coffey - the black woman missing since May 2019, Election 2019 and what to expect as well as the failed memorial for the 9 year-old girl killed in Cleveland WARD ONE on June 20, 2018. The BWCCC is disgusted with this matter. One year later, June 20, 2019, the councilperson of WARD ONE has not kept to his promise to place a memorial or secondary street named signage in honor of Saniyah Nicholson. It was brought to our attention that directly after the untimely death of Nicholson, Jones told the Coach of the DNA boxing club that placing a street sign for the little girl would never happen. Thus far, Jones has kept to his word to deny the family this honor. In September 2018, Jones wrote a letter to Daniels stating that he was working with the City of Cleveland for a proper memorial. Many months later, in April 2019, Joan Mazzolini (Communications Chief for Cleveland City Council) of the City of Cleveland reached out to BWCCC to talk about a memorial. On April 3, 2019, MazzoIini wrote via email - "I wanted to let you know I received your email, but did not receive any of the enclosed material that you mentioned. Councilman Jones is working to find a suitable place for a memorial bench. If there was a design the family liked that you thought you enclosed, please resend. Either I or Councilman Jones’ office will keep you informed as this moves forward." Since this time, nothing has been done by Councilman Jones. In reference to Joan Mazzolini, she stopped responding to follow up emails to the BWCCC. "These folks are foul. They are very disrespectful. Joe Jones need to grow up. If that little girl was his daughter Jones would be the first to stand. We won the court battle against the City of Cleveland. We know that Jones, Gwen Rodgers and Kevin Rodgers of WARD ONE lied about Cloverside residents not wanting the secondary signage. They were against this tribute for this young girl. Kevin Rodgers told, Kimberly F. Brown of BWCCC that if Jones did not place the sign that he would have nothing to do with Jones. Rodgers continues to be Jones wrong handed man. Let's also remind everyone that Jones recently told the Daniels and Nicholson family that if they no longer dealt with BWCCC, they would receive the secondary signage. We find this to be more alarming. Any fool could basically see that Jones and the Rodgers' is trying to pimp this family, and is using the seat as a councilperson to "strong arm the family during their time of weakness and grief. To give the family a disrespectful ultimatum is shameful and unacceptable. Jones has denied this family "honest services". This is fraud. Joe

Letter from Councilperson Joe Jones to Marshawnette Daniels; promise of a memorial

Jones should be prosecuted. We have had enough of this nonsense! At this point, we will disengage our organization services. We pray that Jones, Kevin and Gwen Rodgers make good on their bully approach. "Put the sign up". When the signs goes up, it is still the hard work of The Black Women Commission of Cuyahoga County that made it happen! Meanwhile, we wish the family much success with their endeavors" stated, members of BWCCC.
