For the past year, the ladies of The Black Women Commission of Cuyahoga County has been advocating for a secondary street sign for Saniyah Nicholson. Nicholson was killed on June 20, 2018. She was an innocent victim caught in a crossfire of gun violence.

On Tuesday, June 11, 2019, the City of Cleveland honored Michael Stanley (musician) with a secondary street name signage while denying Saniyah's family a proper memorial.

BWCCC is asking, "How can a black councilperson deny a black family a proper, and well deserved memorial in honor of their loved one that faced an untimely death due to the mean streets of Cleveland? What's wrong with placing a secondary street named sign in honor of this 9 year-old child?"

The city told the Cleveland Plain Dealer and The Brown Report Newspaper that there is a moratorium in place. Apparently, they forgot to tell Cleveland City Council members and others. "Kevin Kelley, The Council President is a liar. Councilperson Joe Jones is heartless. Saniyah died at no fault of her own, and these two little rascals have stood in the way of the Daniels family receiving any kind of peace" stated the BWCCC.

The BWCCC congratulates Mr. Michael Stanley but it is no celebration because his cheers on June 11, 2019 has swiftly turned into a jeer as a little 9 year-old black girl will never be 10 as her life was ended on June 20, 2018; ( 9 years old and 9 days a

part from Cheers to Jeers? Other recipients of a secondary street sign include James "Slim" Parks and St. Paul AME (Cleveland West-side community). We have reached out to Michael Stanley. Stanley's representative told the BWCCC, that Stanley would not be interested in this matter. As far as St. Paul AME Church, we left Pastor Gregory S. Thomas a message, and have yet to hear from him. The BWCCC does not have a contact for James "Slim" Parks.

Black women, and little black girls deserve respect. The Black community leaders should be outraged but instead they remain silent because this is their norm.

Moving Onward! BWCCC will continue to seek answers.
